Yeah, it came in 2005 while CoD 4 came in 2007. But the delevopers of CoD wanted to make Medal of Honor-styled modern war FPS game back in 2002. But they made made the original CoD based on WW2 because WW2 shooters were popular back then. When CoD came popular, they made CoD 4 because it would sell because the frontcover has “Call of Duty” in it…

Actually they wanted to make a modern day shooter BEFORE BF2 was in developement. But because WW2 games were popular, they wanted their franchise to become popular because they weren’t sure if it would be succesful. That was the reason why they left 2015 and created Infinity Ward. Sure BF2 gave them boost so that they were more confident about their idea…
